Boaters at Ice Harbor Dam will need to be patient. Work on a valve will slow passage for boaters going through the Snake river in the coming weeks.

The repairs to a tainter valve, which helps drain the lock, will increase lock time by about 15-20 minutes, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The increased lock time will last through Dec. 12, when an extended lock outage will begin at all dams on the Columbia and Lower Snake rivers.
