Water Spills Begin at Four Lower Snake River Dams to Help Fish by Staff Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, April 4, 2014

PORTLAND -- Water spills at four dams on the Lower Snake River started Thursday as part of operations to aid migration of juvenile salmon and steelhead.

The spills, along with transportation of juvenile fish from Lower Granite, Little Goose, and Lower Monumental dams, are part of the 2014 Spring Fish Operations Plan at dams operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Spills will begin April 10 at the four Corps dams on the Lower Columbia River.

Corps officials said the most recent forecast issued by the Northwest River Forecast Center for water supply in the Columbia River Basin calls for 6 percent above normal as measured at The Dalles Dam. Water supply is forecast to be 14 percent above normal for the Snake River Basin as measured at Lower Granite Dam.
