Sinking Barge at Bonneville Dam by Anna Erickson KXL Radio, October 25, 2013

Authorities with the Army Corp of Engineers say that Friday evening around 8 PM a barge entering the lock at the Bonneville dam began to list to one side. Divers were sent in to investigate and noticed a large gash in the side of the barge. There was an attempt to temporarily repair the gash. Amy Echols with the Army Corp of Engineers told KXL News that it would likely take several dives to stop the leak. All traffic has been halted in the lock. There is no word yet as to when they will be able to move the barge and reopen traffic on the river.
