Two miles of the 100 Road on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest near Musselshell Meadows will be closed from Sept. 8 to Oct. 8 for a project to improve fish passage.
The heavily traveled route will be closed between its junctions with Road 5132, also known as the Nevada April Connection, and Road 5135, also known as White Creek Road. The Nez Perce Tribe and Trout Unlimited will remove a fish passage barrier that will open up 1.7 miles of steelhead spawning habitat. Steelhead are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
A detour will use a series of roads over Chamook Saddle to skirt the closure.
