UMATILLA, OR-For the first time since the September 2001 terrorist attacks, you can get a close-up look at the navigation lock at McNary Dam.

Starting Saturday August 27 The Army Corps of Engineers will conduct tours of the lock and the fish viewing room, the best vantage point to watch salmon passing through McNary Dam.

The tours will go from 10 a.m. to noon every Saturday through October 29.

For security reasons, the Corps says all adults will need to show picture identification, and cameras, backpacks, and cells phones are not permitted in secure areas.
