Corps Reminds Mariners of Extended
The US Army Corps of Engineers' Portland and Walla Walla Districts have reminded commercial and recreational mariners that three navigation locks on the Columbia and Lower Snake rivers will go out of service Friday, December 10th at 6am for three month gate replacement projects.
River users may need more time than normal to get through the locks in the days prior to the outage due to potentially high river traffic volume, and should adjust travel planning accordingly.
Lower Monumental Dam's navigation lock at Snake River Mile 41.6 will return to service Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 11.59pm. The Dalles and John Day dams' navigation locks at Columbia River miles 192 and 215, respectively, will both return to service Friday, March 18, 2011, at 11,59pm.
Other Corps navigation locks on the Columbia and Lower Snake rivers will undergo longer-than-usual maintenance and repair outages during this time frame.
Public notices with complete outage schedules can be found on Portland District's website at www.nwp.usace.army.mil/navigation/ and Walla Walla District's website at www.nww.usace.army.mil/html/offices/op/t/navdata/.
