Ice Harbor Dam Offers More Tours
by StaffKNDO, April 1, 2011 |
BURBANK, Wash. -- After the 9/11 attacks Ice Harbor Dam was forced to increase security and decrease public tours. However, starting Saturday you will be able to see more than ever.
It's going to be an opportunity for the community to come out and take a look at all the projects we have here at ice harbor dam and all the equipment," says Roger Golladay, Operations Manager.
Visitors will have many opportunities to see projects never seen before by tourists, one being the removable spillway. The spillway opens to the salmon's preferred depth helping them to safely pass. A new exhibit is also available. The exhibit showcases animals and scenery from around the area.
"It looks like we are going to have good weather, and we have an interesting project for you to come take a look at," says Golladay.
Tours begin Saturday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. For more information call Ice Harbor Dam at (509) 547-2048.
