Ice Harbor Dam Repair to
by Staff
|
BURBANK -- Work on a valve at Ice Harbor Dam's navigation lock will slow passage for boaters going through the Snake River dam in coming weeks.
The repairs to a tainter valve, which helps drain the lock, will increase lock time by about 15-20 minutes, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers navigation officials.
The increased lock time will start Monday and last through Dec. 12, when an extended lock outage will begin at all dams on the Columbia and Lower Snake rivers, Corps officials said.
The 14-week-long closure will allow critical, major repairs to navigation locks along with routine maintenance and improvements.
