Construction to Delay Lower Granite Dam Crossings by Staff Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, July 9, 2012

POMEROY -- Drivers using the crossing at Lower Granite Dam may face traffic delays and intermittent closures starting Wednesday.

The interruptions are due to construction work to replace the intake gantry crane on top of the dam. The work is expected to be finished by July 17, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials.

The delays or closures are expected to occur on the following schedule:

Wednesday -- Thirty- to 45-minute delays throughout the day.

Thursday -- Crossing will be closed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

July 16-17 -- Expected two to three hour intermittent closures throughout the day.

The crossing closing time may also be advanced to 5 p.m. on July 21-22, Corps officials said in a release. Information is available by calling 1-888-326-4636.
