Lower Monumental Dam to Close Until Oct. 28 by Staff and wire reports Tri-City Herald, October 13, 2011

BURBANK -- Lower Monumental Lock and Dam will close to public vehicle traffic across the dam Monday through Oct. 28.

The temporary traffic-crossing closure is needed for safety while work is conducted from the top deck of the dam to install trolley pipes to hold fish-tracking equipment on the powerhouse and spillway.

This work requires the use of divers, cranes and additional equipment that will block the deck.

Parts of Little Goose Dam closed through Friday

STARBUCK -- Access to the tailrace fishing wall, recreation area and juvenile fish facility on the downstream side of Little Goose Lock and Dam will temporarily close to the public today and Friday.

The downstream bridge across the navigation lock approach will be gated shut.

The temporary closure will allow the Bonneville Power Administration to conduct work on the main transmission lines from the powerhouse to the Little Goose Substation.

BPA will replace and add new spacers on the lines while the lines are energized.
