RICHLAND, Wash. -- The Columbia Generating Station was successfully connected to the regional power grid on February 17 after being offline due to an equipment issue with its cooling system, Energy Northwest said in a release.
During the five day outage, Energy Northwest said workers completed necessary repairs and conducted thorough testing to ensure the equipment's performance. The station maintained a safe and stable condition throughout the process.
"From start to finish, we kept safety and operational excellence at the forefront," said Dawn Sileo, executive vice president and chief nuclear officer. "Our team demonstrated strong teamwork, thorough analysis and rigor as we worked to resolve the issue and return the plant to reliable operations."
